Alay Festival Competition Showdown in Liloy successful Print E-mail

Residents of Liloy swarmed the town’s “Alay Festival Competition Showdown” in celebration of its 4th fiesta of gratitude to Nuestra Señora Birhen de Regla in Brgy. Fatima, Liloy on January 28.

Lorenso L. Tan Jr., committee chairman of the activity expressed his appreciation to Mayor Jaime Lim for the financial assistance and the support given by making use of the municipal vehicles to fetch participating delegates from far-flung barangays to compete in the municipality proper.

There were five contingents joining the festival showdown namely the Zamboanga del Sur Pagadian City, Dumingag, Sta. Lucia National High School, Pondok ni Islao and Immaculate Conception Disakan, both from the town of Manukan.

Dumingag contingent emerged 1st place during the showdown and received a cash prize of 50 thousand pesos while Zamboanga del Sur Pagadian ranked 2nd place with a cash prize of 30 thousand pesos and on the 3rd place was Sta. Lucia National High School contigent  with a cash prize of 20 thousand pesos. All winners received trophies

Tan cited immensely the financial assistance given also by their relatives living abroad making the celebration a huge success while the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Liloy expressed their gratitude to the committee of said festival in Brgy. Fatima for having the initiative to create a festivity exceptional and remarkable to the hearts of the people and for promoting Liloy to tourists and visitors in their own unique way. - Pretty Abegail C.
